Each month a bunch of us political junkies get together at The Integral Center in Boulder to talk about current events from an integral perspective. This time we will be joined by Mark Michael Lewis who is an integrally-informed Libertarian. I had a fascinating discussion with Mark a few weeks ago, and am excited to bring him to the party. He’s smart, committed, and has thought through his positions. I see things quite differently in many aspects, but that’s all part of the fun. You can find out more about Mark here.
We’ll have lots to talk about: Obama’s second term, the fiscal cliff, the Middle East and, as always, the general Unfolding. You can also livestream the event to your computer. See here for details. We’ll build in time for discussion and hang out a while after. The evening is meant to be fun and participative, so bring your passions, opinions and questions!
Monday night, December 3, 7 – 9 pm — The Integral Center, 2805 Broadway (NW corner of Broadway and Balsam), Boulder.
For me, Mary Ruwart’s book “Healing Our World: The Missing Piece of the Puzzle” does the best job of laying out a libertarian perspective that approaches Integral. She argues that every time we give over our power to government to solve our problems with selfish others, we energize them to do the same to us. But unlike most libertarians, she doesn’t stop there. She goes on to make specific recommendations for how mediation, persuasion, education, and restitution could solve our problems in a more lasting way — without the Karmic counter punch.
Say, Jeff,
We’re in Italy so 9 pm Monday in Boulder is 5 am Tuesday where I am. Any chance this will be “downloadable”?
Mark & Heidi
Hey Mark and Heidi, you mean you don’t want to get up at 5am to watch? Well, okay, it is archived and you can stream it at any time at the same link (in the main posting above – I can’t seem to copy it here). Thanks!
